What Is It?

Hair transplant surgery permanently restores hair to thinning or bald areas using follicular unit grafts taken from the patient's own scalp. The procedure uses either FUE (follicular unit extraction) or FUT (strip method) depending on the patient's needs, donor availability, and preference regarding donor area scarring.

How It Works

Regardless of extraction method, the principle is the same: healthy, DHT-resistant follicular units from the back and sides of the scalp are moved to areas of thinning or baldness. Correct angle, direction, and distribution of grafts is as important as graft survival for a natural-looking result.

Realistic Results

Permanent hair restoration in the transplanted area. New hairs are indistinguishable from natural hair. Results are visible at 12–18 months. Ongoing hair loss in non-transplanted areas may require future touch-up sessions.

Recovery

7–14 days of scabbing in the recipient area and healing at the donor site. Shock loss of transplanted and some existing hairs at 2–4 weeks is expected. Most patients return to work within 5–10 days.

Risks & Complications

  • !Graft survival below expectations
  • !Unnatural direction or angle of transplanted hair
  • !Ongoing loss of non-transplanted native hair
  • !Infection or folliculitis
  • !Unrealistic expectation of density in a very large bald area with limited donor supply

Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely

  • Clinic will not confirm who performs the extraction and implantation
  • No medical consultation — the procedure is booked like a product purchase
  • No assessment of donor density, recipient area size, or future hair loss trajectory
  • Clinic offers an unrealistically high graft count for a low price

Questions to Ask Before Booking

  • What method (FUE or FUT) is recommended for me and why?
  • What is my donor reserve versus how much I actually need for good coverage?
  • How will my hair look if I continue to lose hair in non-transplanted areas?
  • Will I need medication (finasteride, minoxidil) to preserve the non-transplanted hair?
  • What is the total cost including any touch-up sessions?
