What Is It?

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) facial treatment uses the patient's own blood, centrifuged to concentrate platelets, and re-injected or micro-needled into the face to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and enhance overall skin vitality. It is sometimes called the 'vampire facial.'

How It Works

A blood sample is drawn, centrifuged to separate the plasma rich in growth factors, and then either injected directly into target areas of the face or applied topically during microneedling. The growth factors stimulate fibroblast activity, promoting new collagen and elastin formation.

Realistic Results

Gradual improvement in skin radiance, texture, fine lines, and elasticity over 4–8 weeks. Most patients see best results after a series of 3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Results last approximately 12 months and build with each session.

Recovery

Redness and mild swelling for 24–48 hours, similar to a sunburn reaction. Microneedled channels heal within 24 hours. Most patients return to social activities within 24–48 hours.

Risks & Complications

  • !Mild bruising at blood draw site or injection points
  • !Temporary redness and swelling of the treated area
  • !Infection if skin preparation is not sterile
  • !Minimal risk as autologous (from the patient's own body) — allergic reaction is essentially zero
  • !Results are gradual and may be disappointing for patients expecting dramatic immediate improvement

Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely

  • Clinic uses pre-prepared PRP from a different patient (autologous means from your own blood only)
  • No proper centrifuge or PRP preparation kit used
  • Provider claims PRP is equivalent to filler for volume replacement
  • No sterile technique or skin preparation before treatment

Questions to Ask Before Booking

  • What PRP kit and centrifuge protocol do you use to prepare the plasma?
  • Will the PRP be injected, microneedled, or both?
  • How many sessions will I need to see meaningful results?
  • Is PRP appropriate for my specific skin concern, or would another treatment be more effective?
  • Can I combine PRP with another rejuvenation treatment in the same session?
