What Is It?
Skin boosters are injections of highly hydrophilic (water-attracting) hyaluronic acid specifically designed to deeply hydrate the skin from within. Unlike structural fillers, skin boosters are low-viscosity and spread through the tissue to improve skin quality, elasticity, and luminosity rather than adding volume.
How It Works
Small aliquots of low-density HA are injected in a grid pattern into the superficial dermis across the face, neck, or hands. The HA attracts and retains water molecules, dramatically improving skin hydration from within. Popular products include Restylane Skinboosters and Juvederm Volite.
Realistic Results
Plumper, more supple, visibly hydrated skin with improved elasticity and reduced fine surface lines. Results build over a course of 2–3 treatments spaced 1 month apart and last 6–9 months per course. The skin feels consistently more moisturised from the inside.
Recovery
Multiple small injection papules resolve within hours. Mild redness and swelling for 24–48 hours. Bruising is possible. No other downtime — patients can resume most activities the same day.
Risks & Complications
- !Bruising and mild swelling at injection sites
- !Temporary papule formation (resolves in 24–48 hours)
- !Lumpiness if product is injected too superficially
- !Allergic reaction to HA (rare)
- !Vascular events are unlikely given the superficial injection depth but the risk is not zero
Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely
- ⚑Provider uses the same structural filler for skin boosting that they use for cheek volumisation
- ⚑No acknowledgement of the difference between skin boosters and fillers
- ⚑Grid injection pattern is not used — injecting single large boluses is incorrect technique for this treatment
- ⚑Product brand cannot be identified

- How many sessions will I need for my skin type and goals?
