What Is It?
All-on-4 (Teeth in a Day) is a full-arch dental rehabilitation technique that supports a complete set of fixed prosthetic teeth on just four strategically placed implants. It is designed for patients who are fully or near-fully edentulous (toothless) or whose remaining teeth cannot be saved.
How It Works
Four implants are placed at specific angles that maximise engagement with available bone — two straight at the front and two angled at 30–45 degrees at the rear to avoid bone grafting. A temporary full-arch prosthesis is fitted the same day. The permanent prosthesis is fabricated and attached 3–6 months later.
Realistic Results
A complete, fixed set of teeth that looks and functions naturally. Patients can eat, smile, and speak with confidence immediately after the temporary prosthesis is fitted. The permanent prosthesis provides a long-lasting (10–20+ year) aesthetic and functional outcome.
Recovery
Soft diet strictly required for 3–6 months while osseointegration occurs. Swelling and discomfort for 1 week post-surgery. Full-arch dental rehabilitation is a significant surgical procedure requiring careful post-operative care.
Risks & Complications
- !Implant failure requiring the entire arch to be re-evaluated
- !Temporary prosthesis fracture during the integration period
- !Nerve proximity complications if implant planning is not precise
- !Prosthetic complications requiring adjustments
- !Peri-implantitis if oral hygiene is not maintained rigorously
Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely
- ⚑Provider places All-on-4 without pre-operative CBCT and treatment planning
- ⚑No bone quality assessment or consideration of whether 6 implants (All-on-6) is more appropriate
- ⚑No discussion of the soft diet requirement during osseointegration
- ⚑Full arch completed in a single day with permanent prosthesis without osseointegration — this is not safe
Questions to Ask Before Booking
- Am I a suitable candidate for All-on-4, or is All-on-6 more appropriate for my bone quality?
- Will I receive a temporary or permanent prosthesis on the same day?
- What is the diet restriction during the healing period?
- What oral hygiene tools (interdental brushes, water flossers) are required?
- What is the warranty on the prosthesis, and what does it cover?
