What Is It?

Clitoral hood reduction (clitoral hoodoplasty) removes excess prepuce (hood) tissue that covers the clitoris. It can be performed for aesthetic reasons or to address functional concerns such as difficulty achieving stimulation due to excessive covering tissue. It is often performed alongside labiaplasty.

How It Works

Excess hood tissue is removed in a carefully designed elliptical excision while preserving adequate coverage of the clitoris. The incision is placed symmetrically on both sides to ensure a balanced result. Absorbable sutures are used.

Realistic Results

Reduced hood tissue with improved clitoral visibility and potentially enhanced sensitivity. Results are permanent. When combined with labiaplasty, the overall aesthetic result is harmonised.

Recovery

No sexual intercourse or vigorous physical activity for 6 weeks. Mild swelling for 1–2 weeks. Cold compresses and loose clothing are recommended.

Risks & Complications

  • !Asymmetry of the hood tissue
  • !Overcorrection exposing too much clitoral tissue
  • !Changes in sensitivity (hypersensitivity or reduced sensation)
  • !Wound healing complications
  • !Scarring near the clitoral area

Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely

  • Surgeon does not perform a physical examination before recommending surgery
  • No discussion of the risk of hypersensitivity or overcorrection
  • Procedure offered as a standalone cosmetic treatment without assessing the full vulvar anatomy
  • Surgeon cannot clearly explain what tissue will be removed

Questions to Ask Before Booking

  • How much tissue will you remove, and how is that determined?
  • What is the risk of hypersensitivity after surgery?
  • How do you ensure symmetry on both sides?
  • Will you examine my anatomy before finalising the surgical plan?
  • Can this be combined with labiaplasty, and is that advisable for me?
