What Is It?

Injectable fat-dissolving treatments use compounds such as phosphatidylcholine with deoxycholic acid (PCDC) to permanently reduce small, localised fat deposits. Common treatment areas include the double chin, bra fat, inner thighs, and abdomen. They are not a substitute for liposuction in larger fat deposits.

How It Works

The solution is injected directly into the fat deposit using multiple small injections in a grid pattern. The agent destabilises fat cell membranes, causing cell death. The body's immune system then removes the debris via the lymphatic system over 4–8 weeks. The process may require 2–4 sessions per area.

Realistic Results

Gradual, progressive reduction in the treated fat pocket over 6–12 weeks after each session. Results are permanent for destroyed fat cells, though surrounding fat cells can still enlarge with weight gain. Best results are achieved in small, well-defined fat deposits.

Recovery

Swelling, redness, and hardness at the treatment site for 1–2 weeks per session. The inflammatory response is the mechanism of action, so some discomfort and visible swelling is unavoidable and expected.

Risks & Complications

  • !Significant post-treatment inflammation and swelling
  • !Skin dimpling or contour irregularity if injected unevenly
  • !Persistent firmness or nodules
  • !Infection at injection sites
  • !Incomplete correction if deposits are large

Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely

  • Provider offers fat-dissolving for large areas where liposuction is clinically more appropriate
  • Product ingredients are not disclosed
  • No spacing between sessions (minimum 4–6 weeks required)
  • Provider claims results equivalent to surgical liposuction for large deposits

Questions to Ask Before Booking

  • Is my fat deposit a suitable candidate for injections rather than surgical removal?
  • How many sessions do you anticipate, and what will the total cost be?
  • What product will you use, and how are the ingredients regulated?
  • What does the recovery look like after each session?
  • When will I be able to evaluate the final result?
