What Is It?

Laser resurfacing uses ablative laser energy — CO2 or erbium — to remove damaged skin layers and stimulate the growth of new, smoother skin. It is one of the most effective treatments for significant photoageing, deep wrinkles, acne scars, and general textural concerns.

How It Works

The laser vaporises controlled depths of skin surface. Erbium:YAG ablates more cleanly with less thermal damage and faster recovery. CO2 has greater thermal effect, more collagen stimulation, and more downtime. Fractional versions of both create treatment columns while sparing 70–90% of the skin surface.

Realistic Results

Dramatic reduction in wrinkles, scars, and sun damage. Full ablative sessions produce the most significant results. Fractional sessions require a course but with substantially shorter recovery. Full results visible at 3–6 months.

Recovery

Full ablative: 10–14 days of open wound, 4–6 weeks of redness. Fractional ablative: 5–7 days, 2–4 weeks of pinkness.

Risks & Complications

  • !Permanent hypopigmentation
  • !Prolonged erythema
  • !Herpes simplex reactivation
  • !Scarring with over-aggressive treatment
  • !Infection during healing

Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely

  • Full ablative resurfacing offered without discussing permanent pigmentation risk
  • No antiviral prophylaxis
  • Dark skin type treated with aggressive ablative laser without appropriate technique modification

Questions to Ask Before Booking
