What Is It?

A PRP facial combines platelet-rich plasma preparation from the patient's own blood with topical application during microneedling or mesotherapy. The growth factors in PRP penetrate through the microchannels created by needling to deliver concentrated regenerative benefits directly into the dermis.

How It Works

Blood is drawn, centrifuged, and the PRP is applied to the face immediately before or during a microneedling session. As the needles create channels in the skin, the PRP is driven deeper into the dermis where it activates collagen synthesis, vascular growth, and tissue repair.

Realistic Results

Skin appears brighter and more hydrated within days. Collagen remodelling continues for up to 3 months post-treatment. Patients typically complete 3–4 sessions for full effect. Improvements in acne scars, fine lines, and overall skin quality are most notable.

Recovery

Redness resembling a mild sunburn for 24–48 hours. The skin may feel tight or dry for 3–5 days. Avoid sun exposure and active skincare ingredients (retinol, acids) for 1 week post-treatment.

Risks & Complications

  • !Temporary pinpoint bruising from microneedling
  • !Redness and skin sensitivity for 24–48 hours
  • !Rare infection if sterile technique is not maintained
  • !Flare of acne in acne-prone skin (transient)
  • !Minimal systemic risk due to autologous nature

Red Flags — Choose a Clinic Safely

  • Provider applies PRP from a tube that was prepared earlier or off-site
  • No blood draw performed — the PRP cannot be autologous without drawing your blood on the same day
  • No proper microneedling device — dermarollers do not create consistent channel depth
  • Provider does not screen for active skin infections or open acne lesions before treatment

Questions to Ask Before Booking

  • What centrifuge and kit do you use to prepare the PRP?
  • What needle depth will the microneedling device reach?
  • How many sessions are needed for my specific skin concern?
  • Is PRP the best option for what I want to address, compared to other treatments?
  • What aftercare will I need for the first week?
